Life Members

Definition

A Life Member is a senior or established academic, researcher, professional, policy expert, or distinguished contributor who has demonstrated significant academic or professional achievement and is willing to make a sustained intellectual and institutional contribution to the mission of CAPCDR.

Life Membership represents the highest regular category of individual membership within CAPCDR and recognizes both academic standing and a long-term commitment to the Center’s objectives.

Normally, Life Membership may be considered for university faculty members, doctoral degree holders, experienced researchers, senior professionals, editors, reviewers, policy experts, or individuals with substantial contributions to research, education, professional development, or public service.

Life Membership may be granted upon application, nomination, invitation, or recommendation, subject to approval by the appropriate authority of CAPCDR.

Benefits and Privileges

Life Members may:

• Maintain an individual academic profile on the CAPCDR website, subject to CAPCDR’s profile and verification requirements.
• Present their academic qualifications, institutional affiliations, research interests, publications, professional achievements, and relevant scholarly links through their CAPCDR profile.
• Participate in CAPCDR conferences, seminars, webinars, workshops, training programs, research activities, and academic networks.
• Propose and, subject to CAPCDR approval, initiate national or international conferences, seminars, webinars, workshops, symposia, or other scholarly events.
• Serve as conference chairs, session chairs, scientific committee members, advisory members, reviewers, editors, speakers, moderators, or resource persons.
• Propose collaborative research projects and multidisciplinary or international research networks.
• Initiate special issues, edited books, research reports, policy papers, conference proceedings, and other scholarly publication projects.
• Propose the establishment of a new academic journal in an appropriate discipline or emerging interdisciplinary area. CAPCDR may provide academic, technical, editorial, networking, and institutional assistance following evaluation and approval of the proposal.
• Recommend qualified scholars and professionals for appropriate CAPCDR activities and membership.
• Mentor early-career researchers, students, and scholars from underrepresented academic communities.
• Receive priority consideration for leadership roles in CAPCDR academic and professional initiatives.
• Identify themselves as a Life Member of CAPCDR in appropriate academic and professional contexts, subject to CAPCDR’s branding and representation policies.

Role and Working Procedure

Life Members are encouraged to function as academic partners and intellectual contributors, rather than passive members.

A Life Member may submit an academic initiative or proposal to CAPCDR describing its objectives, proposed activities, target participants, expected outcomes, resource requirements, and implementation plan.

Following academic and administrative review, CAPCDR may authorize the member to coordinate the initiative independently or collaboratively under the CAPCDR framework.

Life Members are particularly encouraged to contribute through:

Idea → Proposal → CAPCDR Review → Collaboration → Implementation → Academic Output → Dissemination

Academic outputs may include conferences, publications, research collaborations, workshops, training programs, mentoring activities, policy dialogues, or other scholarly initiatives.

Responsibilities

Life Members are expected to:

• Uphold academic integrity, research ethics, professionalism, inclusiveness, and intellectual independence.
• Protect the reputation and non-profit character of CAPCDR.
• Participate, where possible, in peer review, mentoring, editorial work, conferences, research, or other scholarly activities.
• Encourage opportunities for emerging and underrepresented researchers.
• Maintain accurate academic information in their CAPCDR profile.
• Avoid using CAPCDR’s name, logo, platform, or institutional identity for unauthorized commercial, political, personal, or organizational purposes.
• Obtain appropriate authorization before representing CAPCDR in institutional agreements, financial commitments, partnerships, or formal external communications.
